I use contemporary methods of photo-etching, screen print and video, to investigate the ways we observe, interact with, and respond to the places we inhabit. Using drone video and a wide angle camera I document the environmental changes happening on the beaches of Southern California. Erosion, an invisible force of nature which moves materials of earth from one place to another is a marker for time and window into the future. With this in mind I incorporate geological research as a way to call attention to the overlooked and ephemeral natural world. Barrios 2017
